Orthopedic Certified Specialist Certification for Leon Richard, DPT OCS

Leon obtained a new important certification specific to helping our patients on the Kenai by improving healthy outcomes after complicated surgeries and so much more.

We are proud to announce that Leon is our MediCenter certified Orthopedic Certified Specialist by the ABPTS ( American Board of Physical Therapy Specialty).

We are extremely happy to recognize Leon Richard, DPT with a new credential next to his name of OCS.

What is an OCS Certification?

  • Must complete minimum patient care experience (2000 hours in last 10 years, 500 of which must be in last 3 years) or evidence of completion of accredited residency in orthopedics.
  • Must also pass examination.
  • PTS (American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties) recognizes an orthopedic certified specialist as a PT with exemplary knowledge of an orthopedic population.

The Kenai Peninsula has only two certified individuals currently and one of them is Leon!

Why we feel this is so important to our patients on the Kenai is that you have a  provider who understands that our patients demand more from a Physical Therapy provider and he is one who is interested on continual education to better himself.

Here at the MediCenter, we are extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve you and to have providers who are open to challenge themselves to be better.

MediCenter is taking action to build an Orthopedic Center of Excellence in our Physical Therapy Department.

Thank you Leon and Congratulation!!!

Joseph Hurley, Executive Director and the Entire MediCenter Board of Directors
