The MediCenter is proud to welcome Dr. Jeffrey Carlson, DPM to Soldotna, Homer, Kenai, Sterling, Seward, Barrow, Nikiski, Kasilof, and to many other various contracted locations.

The MediCenter Medical Group welcomes Dr. Jeffrey Carlson, DPM a regenerative medicine trained Foot and Ankle Specialist.

Dr. Carlson is board certified and an Associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery.  He is also a member of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and the American Podiatric Medical Association.

" The Kenai has always had one Dr. Carlson (Dr. Ray Lynn Carlson, MD) but now they are lucky enough to have two " said Mr. Joseph Hurley, Executive Director of the MediCenter Medical Group when speaking of Dr. Lynn Carlson's oldest son coming home to work as a physician.  " Two Carlsons who understand the benefits of serving our patients, providing house calls, working hard to help those in need, and providing service without ever seeking recognition.  Most of the community really never understands the work put in after-hours that the entire Carlson Family has done for our local community " said Joseph Hurley.

Dr. Jeffrey Carlson is originally from Alaska. Growing up, he spent his summers working in the salmon commercial fishing industry, learning the importance of hard work and catching the "Alaskan Spirit" from his father, Dr. Lynn Carlson, who also commercial fished to pay his way through medical school and residency. Dr. Jeffrey Carlson spent time on boats drift netting for Salmon, and in his grandparents’ cannery. One summer he even spent time in the oil field to help pay for college.

As a college athlete, Dr. Carlson learned the significance of the feet and the important role they play for the rest of the body. This is what sparked his interest in the field of Podiatry. With more than a decade of traveling around the country with his wife Alison, they are excited to share his knowledge and expertise with the residents of Alaska.

Dr. Carlson earned his medical degree from Des Moines University in Iowa before completing a three-year surgical residency in Salt Lake City, Utah. This residency program provided the advanced training needed to be considered an expert in the treatment of all ailments of the foot and ankle, including reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, sports medicine, pediatric, diabetic and geriatric lower extremity care.

Over the last several years Dr. Carlson has been practicing in both Ohio and Utah. He has enjoyed being able to devote quality time and effort to his patients and ensure they understand their treatment plan. More recently he has been focused on the use of stem cell therapy and regenerative medicine. He currently serves on the board of directors for World Access to Regenerative Medicine, a non-profit organization.

Dr. Carlson is a fluent Spanish speaker and enjoys using this in his medical practice. He has served the people of Guatemala and Spain and plans to perform more medical missions in the future.

Spending time with family is also important; Dr. Carlson, his wife, and four children love to visit local attractions and activities, spend time outdoors, and attend athletic events.

Podiatry is a service that per patient population, is severely lacking in the Kenai.  Choice is a term not commonly used in Alaska as we seem too rural to really offer competition, lower prices, and higher quality.  This topic has been something the MediCenter Medical Group has taken on directly.  " We are going to offer higher quality care, lower the overall cost of healthcare, and improve the ability to choose quality healthcare providers " said Joseph Hurley

Dr. Carlson is welcoming new patients and all insurances. Dr. Carlson will begin seeing patients with MediCenter Specialties Clinic at 100 Trading Bay Rd STE 8, Kenai, Alaska 99611.  Appointments can be made by calling 907-283-9110.

Patients have options in Alaska and we believe our patients deserve the best locally ” stated Joseph Hurley. " Instead of driving to Anchorage or traveling down south to receive the latest and greatest in treatment of the foot and ankle,  they can now been seen by Dr. Jeffrey Carlson right here in downtown Kenai! " stated Joseph Hurley.
